POWERVR Insider Blue Marble Demo
The BlueMarble demonstration illustrates high-performance displacement mapping using hardware vertex-texturing functionality provided by the POWERVR SGX Graphics IP Cores. The demo includes both a rolling demo mode and interactive mode which, step-by-step, builds up the complex final effect including a blend between a day and night time base color layer, per-pixel specular lighting and a sea water shader, and a variety of cloud layers which are combined with displacement mapping based on a high-detail high-map. Through the usage of fragment shader branching the sealevel can be influenced dynamically and rendered correctly through the usage of the heightmap data in combination with a shader 'sealevel' constant variable which allows the sea-layer to be enabled correctly on a per-pixel basis.
