UMPC & MID

The traditional desktop PC is now more than matched by its portable counterpart. Portables range from desktop replacement notebooks through to thin and light ultra-portable systems. Some forecasts indicate that by 2011 there will be more laptop PCs shipped than desktops.

While smartphones like Nokia's N95 now incorporate PDA and PC features there are new categories emerging at the boundary between small notebooks and high-end handsets: the Ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) and the Mobile Internet Device (MID). Intel is using our graphics and video IP in a growing range of these mobile PC segments.
