aptX

APTX are the developers of a range of audio codecs, generically known as apt-X, which adhere to 2 very simple principles i.e. acoustic integrity and low latency. The apt-X codecs have been associated with professional audio applications for 20 years. To that extent over 20,000 radio and TV stations worldwide, broadcast content with the help of apt-X. Recently consumer applications have started to waken up to the industrial strengths of apt-X, in particular Stereo Bluetooth headsets, speakers and receivers. Since the inception of Stereo Bluetooth audio using A2DP profiles the end user experience has been slightly lacking, however integrating apt-X into the Stereo Bluetooth link now delivers pristine quality audio and ensures a more fulfilling end user experience.

The apt-X Bluetooth audio codec will be available for HD-Audio over Bluetooth on the META processor. When incorporated in Bluetooth A2DP Stereo products, apt-X Bluetooth audio coding delivers full ‘wired’ audio quality. With apt-X Bluetooth source material is transparently delivered over the Bluetooth link, whether it is stored uncompressed or in an alternative compression (MP3, AAC, FLAC) format.
