Recently NEC licensed a second member of Imagination’s POWERVR® SGX graphics core family under a multiple-use license arrangement. The core will be integrated into future NEC SoCs.

This announcement extends the highly successful and growing relationship between the two companies. Previously NEC licensed Imagination’s POWERVR SGX535 core which it is deploying in a number of devices, including its recently announced NaviEngine 1 single-chip system for car navigation. The new agreement will extend the markets addressed by NEC devices incorporating POWERVR SGX.
