Introducing Our Inspire 2019 Speakers

Our Inspire 2019 event in China will include the first reveal of our new generation GPU for 2020. The launch will be accompanied by a series of talks for an illuminating day of industry knowledge and expert insight. Below, we detail our list of speakers so you can get to know them before they hit the stage.



Weirong Chen

Representing SiFive, Weirong Chen, CSOC Director of SiFive China, will be presenting his presentation on ‘SoC IP Solutions for Vertical Markets’.
SiFive is famous for being the first fabless semiconductor company to build and create customised silicon on RISC-V architecture, so the talk promises to capture some of the company’s industry-leading knowledge.



Mingjun Sun

Mingjun Sun, Director of the AI Department of China Academy of Information and Communications and Head of General Group of AIIA, will be presenting her in-depth talk on ‘The Latest Developments in Artificial Intelligence’.

She has more than ten years of experience in ICT standardisation and is the current supervisor of various AI standardisation projects, particularly pertaining to the implementation of AI in telecom operations and hardware and software interactions. Her talk promises to offer an insightful look into her wealth of AI knowledge.



John Rowland

John Rowland, President of Blue Ocean, will be showing off the knowledge he has amassed in his 25-year career in his talk ‘Edge Computing Training Chips and AI System Solutions’.

Before Blue Ocean, Rowland worked for Ericsson, Mobilink Telecom and, most recently, at Spreadtrum/Unisoc, where he oversaw annual revenue growth from $0 to almost $2bn. Utilising his veteran status, his talk promises to blend the latest knowledge with seasoned experience.



Jianwen Lin

Jianwen Lin, R&D Director at Allwinner Technology, will be presenting his talk on the ‘Application of Heterogeneous Computing in SoC’. Being at the core of research and development of one of the world’s leading fabless design companies in smart application processor SoCs and smart analogue ICs, his presentation will cut right to the core of the latest in SoC computing.


ron black

Dr. Ronald Black

Dr Ronald Black is a veteran in the semiconductor and technology industry with over 25 years of experience. He’s managed and ran companies in the global semiconductor and mobile markets before joining Imagination as CEO.

He was most recently CEO and President of Rambus Inc. from June 2012 until June 28, 2018. His talk, ‘Imagination’s Vision’, will be all about Imagination Technologies’ unique philosophy and where we’re going.


steve evans

Steve Evans

Steve Evans has been a part of the semiconductor and technology industry since 1985. He’s held various senior marketing, sales, applications and business development roles in just 39 short years. He’s worked for leading companies such as Arm, MIPS, Hitachi and various start-ups before landing at Imagination where he became responsible for ensuring we continually provide innovation and value.

His talk, ‘New GPU product launch: The GPU of Everything’, will be all about our brand-new GPU.


Kristof Beets

Kristof Beets is our Senior Director of Product and Technical Marketing for PowerVR. He ensures that products are aligned with the requirements of strategic partners and market requirements, leaning on his 17-year career at Imagination to make sure we stay on track.

With experience in business development, ecosystem management and competitive analysis, his talk, ‘New GPU generation 2020: Deep dive’, will be all about the nitty-gritty on our new generation GPU 2020 series product launch.

grantAndrew Grant

Andrew Grant is our Senior Director of Artificial Intelligence who joined Imagination in 2018. He is responsible for strategic business engagement in AI and has a particular interest in autonomous vehicles and ADAS. His talk, ‘Accelerating AI: From Edge to Cloud’, promises to be a riveting take on the fast-paced evolution of artificial intelligence.

volkerVolker Politz

Volker Politz is our Vice President of Segment Marketing and has over 30 years’ experience in semiconductor and technology companies. With a background touching on several industries – namely engineering, marketing, sales and management – he has worked with companies in Asia, Europe and the United States, including executive roles at Hitachi and Renesas.

His talk, ‘Smart Cars: Driven by Security, Safety & Certification’, promises to show a cross-section of the future of smart cars and our collective role in the future of automobiles.

He is now Content Manager at Imagination Technologies.
