The automotive industry is going through many changes and that is having a huge impact on the semiconductor IP industry. The vehicle will move from being predominantly mechanical to primarily a computer on wheels enabling a future of self-driving cars, and it’s estimated that by 2030, up to 50% of the cost of a car will be in electronics. Part of the requirement for automotive applications is functional safety, and the way Imagination creates its PowerVR GPU and neural network NNA technology will make it easier for SoC manufacturers to achieve the Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL) that are classified by the ISO 26262 standard for automotive safety.
