World population growth along with global warming will drive the need for agriculture efficiencies. The solution to these challenges lies in the Internet-of-things (IoT), a vast array of emerging technologies that can help drive cost-effective solutions for agriculture as well as other consumer and industrial markets.
However, the technologies supporting the nascent IoT markets are still very young and will continue to evolve to address the challenges being faced.
This whitepaper looks at some of those challenges within an agricultural context and how IoT start-ups are collaborating to enter this market and drive the next generation of products and services that address both the technical and social challenges. It provides a real-world case study describing three companies: a service provider, a system integrator and an IP provider that are collaborating to solve these problems and deliver products and services for the agriculture sector in Portugal.
