Imagination Technologies Announces Expansion into Japan and Asia Pacific

Imagination Technologies KK to Focus on IP Licensing and New Business Development

TOKYO, JAPAN and LONDON, UK: Imagination Technologies (LSE:IMG), the leading provider of human computer interface intellectual property (IP), today announced that it has opened a new wholly-owned subsidiary in Tokyo, Japan. Shigeki Matsue has been appointed President of the new company, Imagination Technologies KK. This move comes on the back of Imagination Technologies’ expanding customer engagement in the Japan and Asia Pacific markets.

Matsue is highly respected in Japan as former President and CEO of NEC Electronics and a Director of NEC Corporation and will focus on licensing the range of graphics, video, DSP IP cores and application IP from all of Imagination Technologies’ divisions* to Japanese and Asia Pacific customers.

Imagination Technologies licensable IP includes the range of PowerVR graphics cores and the META multi-threaded DSP processor. PowerVR’s unique architecture powers a range of complementary IP cores providing scalable and efficient solutions for performance 2D, 3D and digital video across a broad range of applications.

The critical advantage of Imagination Technologies’ META architecture is that it makes it possible to run several real-time tasks on a single processor, rather than resorting to inefficient multi-DSP solutions. META delivers complex DSP with real-time response together with general purpose processing that will revolutionise the possibilities for the next-generation of electronic appliances.

Says Hossein Yassaie, CEO, Imagination Technologies: “”;The establishment of Imagination Technologies KK in Tokyo is an important, strategic move that will allow us to exploit further opportunities with Japan’s consumer electronics and semiconductor companies. We are delighted to have been able to secure Shigeki Matsue, one of the leading figures in the Japanese electronics industry, as President of our new business.””;

Says Shigeki Matsue, President, Imagination Technologies KK: “”;Having worked extensively with Imagination Technologies in the past I’m now pleased to be part of the start of Imagination Technologies KK. I’m looking forward to the challenge of making Imagination Technologies’ outstanding IP technology offerings very successful in Japan.””;
