Berlin, 3rd September, 2015 – Imagination Technologies (IMG.L) announces that leading in-car entertainment manufacturer Pioneer has licensed Imagination’s FlowRadio internet radio service for its in-vehicle app program. The internet radio and podcast content delivered by FlowRadio will be available through Pioneer’s AppRadioLIVE app as a one-off in-app purchase called the Pioneer Radio Collection for €2.99*.

The start of a long-term technology partnership, Pioneer and Imagination will continue to work together on connected audio initiatives for the dashboard.

FlowRadio incorporates a full internet radio service with instant access to over 25,000 stations worldwide, in addition to ‘listen again’ programmes and around 270,000 podcast episodes. Part of Imagination’s FlowCloud platform, FlowRadio includes a comprehensive set of back-end management tools and APIs to interact with a wide range devices including full support for account management and portal hosting.

Ronan McDonagh of Pioneer’s Multimedia Technology Planning Team says: “Radio continues to be incredibly popular worldwide and we wanted to offer our customers the best possible solution for the car that fits in with the growing trend towards connectivity. Partnering with Imagination is ideal as they have unrivalled heritage with radio from their dominance with DAB to the development of FlowRadio, which delivers a superior internet radio service with class-leading user-interface and content recommendation algorithms. We are extremely excited about this announcement but also to be working with Imagination to enable a range of additional connected car projects that we have in the pipeline.”

Tony King-Smith, Imagination’s EVP of marketing says: “We are delighted to be working with Pioneer who has such prominence within the in-car entertainment space and look forward to continuing this exciting partnership and drive to be at the forefront of internet radio across all platforms globally. Quality, reliability and scalability are at the heart of FlowRadio making it, we believe, the best internet radio platform available. FlowRadio is part of a portfolio of cloud-based services with a roadmap that we are developing into many new areas including the connected car.”

FlowRadio is just one part of Imagination’s overall radio strategy to address the enduring popularity of radio worldwide and to help radio thrive in an increasingly connected world. Imagination continues to deliver innovation in digital and internet radio devices through consumer division, Pure and is also working on a number of other radio projects with partner 7digital.

Under the terms of its licensing arrangements, Imagination receives license fees and royalty revenues on shipments of SoCs incorporating Imagination’s IP.
