PowerVR Technologies a division of Imagination Technologies has announced the release of a public SDK (Software Development Kit) that will enable all software developers to produce games, applications and utilities optimised for PowerVR. The public SDK includes the majority of information contained in the Developer SDK, which is only available to registered PowerVR developers under NDA (non-disclosure agreement.)
The Public PowerVR SDK contains reference drivers; white papers detailing the advanced features of PowerVR’s tile based rendering technology; and numerous demos, with full source code, that will allow developers to learn by example how to get the best from PowerVR. As well as a valuable tool for programmers, the Public PowerVR SDK is a treasure trove of PowerVR information and demonstrations.
Says Mark Butler, Vice President – SW Products & Relations, PowerVR Technologies: The public SDK will be ongoing, starting with KYRO and KYRO II and growing to cover our future technologies as they are released. Now amateur and enthusiast programmers will also be able to easily and effectively develop applications for PowerVR.
Says Joe Kreiner, STMicroelectronics Developer Relations Manager: “”The critically acclaimed KYRO and KYRO II demonstrated class leading performance and compatibility. The release of the new SDK will allow developers to further improve performance and visual quality through KYRO and KYRO II’s unique support of features such as 8-layer multitexturing, bump mapping, ConstantStencil™, and Internal True Colour™.
The Public PowerVR SDK will be available on CD from PowerVR Technologies at ECTS 2001 or by download from www.pvrdev.com.
