London, UK 6th June 2011: PURE, the world leading radio maker, announces it has teamed up with the RSPB to bring an RSPB approved library of birdsong from the top 50 UK birds to its radios with Flow technology and its radio and media portal, thelounge.com
Launching to coincide with the RSPB’s summer survey ‘Make Your Nature Count’, the PURE birdsong library can help those taking part identify birds in their garden or local park.
From today owners of any PURE radio with Flow technology will be able to listen to the 50 different types of UK birdsong, ranging from the more well known, like robin and blackbird, to the more uncommon lesser spotted woodpecker and pied wagtail. The radios will also display scrolling text about the birds.
The birdsong library will also be available on the go through the PURE Lounge iPhone App, which brings PURE’s radio and media portal (thelounge.com) to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users. The Lounge App can be downloaded at the Apple iTunes App Store in the UK for just £2.99.
Both Sensia, PURE’s revolutionary touch-screen internet-connected digital radio, the Lounge iPhone App and the Lounge itself will also display illustrations of the birds to help identification.
The RSPB’s Bryan Bland says: “People in the UK love their garden birds and having a library of 50 different birds to listen to through the radio is a great way of bringing the outdoor inside. It’s great that owners of PURE radios with Flow Technology will be able to see and hear a bird from their kitchen window, and straight away find out more about it via their radio.”
Says Colin Crawford, PURE’s director of marketing: “We know that birdsong is extremely popular with our customers as it has consistently been the top alarm on Siesta Flow, our internet-connected bedside radio, so we jumped at the chance to offer a RSPB endorsed library of birdsong as we know it will be a real hit with our customers as well as a great educational tool.”
Also available on thelounge.com and through PURE’s radios with Flow technology is a whole host of bird and wildlife related audio content including RSPB’s regular podcast, Nature’s Voice.
