PURE launches EVOKE-2S and sets a new benchmark for stereo radio

World-leading DAB/FM radio gets comprehensive overhaul and adds PURE Clearsound™ Technology

London, UK, 28th October 2008: PURE the UK’s leading radio manufacture presents the EVOKE-2S, a flagship stereo digital radio with both DAB and FM reception and Clearsound, a completely new and enhanced audio subsystem.

A dramatic evolution from its multi award-winning predecessor, EVOKE-2XT winner of the 2005 What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Radio Product of the Year EVOKE-2S boasts significant electronic, audio, cosmetic and functional improvements that make it the best PURE stereo digital radio yet. EVOKE-2S is available for an SRP of £169.99.

PURE’s dedicated audio engineering team have worked to make EVOKE-2S its best sounding portable radio yet, adding improved mid-range speakers and separate tweeters and driving them with PURE Clearsound technology. Clearsound is a completely new digital end-to-end audio subsystem which uses an integrated high-performance switch-mode power supply, high quality Class D amplifiers, digital audio shaping technology and custom-tuned speakers to provide clear dynamic audio with immense 30W RMS power, while maintaining low power consumption.

While remaining very easy to use, EVOKE-2S includes ReVu to pause and rewind live DAB radio, Intellitext and textSCAN, improved alarms and sleep timer functions, more presets and the latest ChargePAK technology. Its OLED (Organic LED) display is crystal-clear from any angle and has both manual and automatic brightness controls. There’s also an input for an iPod/ MP3 player, a kitchen countdown timer, USB upgradeability and EVOKE’s classic real maple veneer casework.

EVOKE-2S can be run off the mains or taken out and about thanks to the optional ‘fit and forget’ ChargePAK rechargeable battery, which provides a week’s worth of portable listening per charge*. There is also a mains power switch on the back panel for those who don’t wish to leave their radio on standby.

EVOKE-2S is a member of PURE’s EcoPlus range and is PURE’s first radio to include a dedicated power off switch on the rear for those customers who would prefer zero power consumption to the benefits of standby (e.g. clock display and alarms). EcoPlus sets standards within PURE for: reduced power consumption; use of packaging materials from recycled and sustainable sources; reduced packaging size; and use of components with minimised environmental impact.

EVOKE-2S will be available in November from all good stockists. Please visit www.pure.com or call 0845 1489001 for more information.
